The Standing Fire Advisory Committee was constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the recommendation of the Conference of Chiefs of Fire Services in India in 1955 (See Appendices ‘1-C’ and ‘2-A’ to this compendium). The constitution was revised by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the membership of the Committee enlarged, to include all State Government’s representatives and representatives of all Union Territories and other Central Ministries. With the appointment of a Fire Adviser in the Ministry of Home Affairs in the year 1968, he was nominated as the Member Secretary of the Committee.
